Spy-Rid is a fake anti-spyware software that uses scare tactics to frighten people into buying the program. Spy-Rid is made to look like it will scan for and remove spyware from users' computers, yet produces false security warnings to freak people out and buy the software to remove the false threats.
Spy-Rid is usually downloaded and installed through loopholes in web browsers without user consent. Spy-Rid actually hijacks the user's destop and uses pop-ups and other methods to display extremely aggressive advertising, which very annoying.
