AntivirusGT

The AntivirusGT rogue security product is the latest in the XPAntivirus group. It attempts to convince a potential victim that it is scanning their computer and finding threats. In fact it is going nothing but attempting to scare him or her into purchasing useless software.

VIPRE detects it as AntivirusGT.FakeXPA.

AntivirusGT creates two directories in order to install itself

%PROGRAM_FILES%\AVGT
%COMMON_STARTMENU%\AVGT

If AntivirusGT has infected your pc, you should remove it immediately. Click here to use VIPRE to remove PC Defender Antivirus from your computer now.

  1. That would be nice, but the virus blocks attempts to install or run any removal tools. This virus requires that you remove the drive from the machine, and attach it to a clean machine that is running VIPRE. Then use VIPRE to scan the drive and remove all. After this is completed, you can reinstall the drive back into the pc, and boot it. Then you can install VIPRE and run another full scan which will find more instances of this virus. This is a real nasty one.
