RemedyAntiSpy

RemedyAntiSpy is a phony anti-spyware application, or rogue antispyware, made to look like a legitimate security software that will scan for and remove spyware from users' computers. RemedyAntiSpy is a complete scam and should not be trusted.

RemedyAntiSpy makes its way from PC to PC through exploits that also download adware or spyware on victim's computers without notice or consent. Once RemedyAntiSpy has infected a computer it will replace the user's desktop wallpaper with extremely annoying ads RemedyAntiSpy also displaying false warnings of spyware on the computer system. These ads and security warnings are used as a scare tactic to convince people to pay for the program. RemedyAntiSpy will also perform a system scan that reports false positives but will not remove the alleged spyware unless the user pays for the program. Removing valid files falsely reported as spyware could be potentially harmful to the computer. A newer variant of RemedyAntiSpy falsely warns that the user is infected with a key logger named keylogger32.exe, another scare tactic to get the user to pay for the software. RemedyAntiSpy is part of a family of rogue security programs that includes a similar program named SmartSecurity.
