WinDefender 2009

WinDefender 2009 is fake antispyware software that uses scare tactics to frighten people into buying the corrupt software. WinDefender 2009 is also the successor to to a rogue anti-spyware program named WinDefender 2008. WinDefender should be avoided, do not buy this software, remove WinDefender form infected computers.

WinDefender makes it's way from computer to computer via Trojans that display fake security alerts stating that the computer is infected or being attacked. These alerts then state that you should download and install WinDefender 2009 in order to protect the PC. Once WinDefender is installed, the program will be configured to start automatically when the computer starts, which causes the PC to be sluggish and slow. WinDefender 2009 will scan the computer and display a variety of malware that cannot be removed unless the software is purchased. The funny thing is that most of the files that WinDefender finds will actually be the Trojans that installed it in the first place. WinDefender will also display pop-ups stating that the computer is infected. This pop-up should be closed, and ignored, as it is just a further tactic to try and take your hard earned money.
